An Armenian family before 1915

This historical photograph was taken before the events of the Armenian Genocide, which began in 1915.

The city of Karin (Erzurum) had a sizable Armenian population before these tragic events. The historically Armenian city, later known as Erzurum in the Ottoman Empire (now Turkey), was a center of Armenian culture and public life.
